Home Page Design

| Nav Bar | Buttons for Home (home page), Products (which will take users to the shopping cart area listing all of the products, allowing them to purchase, etc.), Support, About Us, Contact Us, and What’s New (as a catch-all area that allows MTech to publish new content quickly and have a home for it). This is a little different than today where the product information (e.g. information about the M9800) is on the core Website and the cart is simply used to configure & purchase the product. A larger role for the shopping cart area will be added to present the majority of the product-specific information, leveraging the shopping cart's content management system. This allows MTech to easily add and edit products (descriptions, photos, configurations, etc.) through a WYSIWYG environment. This eliminates the need for HTML Web page authoring for products. |
| Search Area | The search area will be integrated into the search bar. This will be a site-wide search that would search all HTML files, PDF files, shopping cart database product info, Word files, etc. – whatever MTech wants to be searchable on the Website. Search results will be hyperlinked to the associated page. |
| Primary Marketing Area | This will be a rotating ad area that would move through three or four different product offerings. Different photos and targeted message will be displayed on each ad and each ad will be hyperlinked to the associated product in the shopping cart area. This will likely be Flash for the best appearance with smooth, gradual fade transitions so as not to be distracting. |
| Primary Marketing Text | This will be static text that will welcome/introduce the user to MTech. The text shown here, like all text in this draft, is just place-holder. |
| Product Scroller | This is an abbreviated version of the MTech laptop comparison page. It will be a scroller that will move through the entire MTech laptop product line in a left-to-right motion as the user moves their mouse (or clicks on the blue circle/arrow buttons on each side). As the user highlights (mouses-over) a particular model, the Product Scroller Details Window (see below) will display an abbreviated listing of the laptop’s specifications. This will be a Flash-based scroller with the photos and links (for mouse-over as well as for when user clicks on the image) stored is a basic text file for easy updating without the requirement to have any knowledge of Flash. |
| Product Scroller Details Window | This window will automatically change the text and photo to reflect the product that the user mouses-over in the Product Scroller (see above). If the user clicks on anywhere in the window, they will be taken to the associated product description page in the shopping cart area. |
| Vertical Markets Window | This is a window with links to other pages on the site that will list specific laptop models and recommended configurations for various vertical markets – essentially the same information MTech will offer if someone called and said “what would you recommend for _________”. Those pages will then lead into the shopping cart area. |
| Testimonials Window | This is a window that will allow users to scroll through user testimonials and/or will auto-scroll through the testimonials. |
| News Window | This will be an open marketing area to share any recent news with users. It is also beneficial for search engines as it presents new content to them when they revisit the site every couple of weeks. |
